A cushion-cut umbalite garnet in raspberry-pink at the centre, framed by a scalloped, milgrain-edged diamond halo and finished with diamond-set shoulders, in two-tone 9ct gold. A rare pink garnet in a heritage-style setting.

Halo and shoulders: 30 round brilliant natural diamonds, 0.28ct total, F-G colour, SI clarity
Metal: 9ct yellow gold body with white gold halo and shoulder detail (stamped 375)
Setting: Cushion centre, scalloped milgrain diamond halo, diamond-set shoulders
Band: Half-round
Construction: CAD designed, cast, hand-assembled, hand-finished and hand-set

About umbalite garnet
Umbalite is one of the rarer members of the garnet family, a pink-purple form of rhodolite found in the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. Like all rhodolite it's a natural blend of two garnet types, pyrope and almandine, which is what gives it that raspberry-to-mauve colour rather than the plain red most people picture, and it's known for the way it shifts between a daylight raspberry and a warmer purple-pink indoors. 

Hardness: 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale
Birthstone: garnet is January's stone, and umbalite is a member of the garnet family
