Sit down with us — in our Melbourne store or over a video call. We'll talk through what your partner loves, what your budget can do, and what kind of ring will actually suit them. By the end, you'll have a clear direction and a rough quote in hand. No pressure, no jargon. Most people leave knowing exactly what they want
This is where we get into the detail — halo or no halo, yellow gold or white, claw style, band width. We source diamond or gemstone options that match the design and your budget, so you can compare the actual stones before making any decisions.
Once you've chosen your stone and locked in the design, we send a final quote. You confirm the order with a deposit and we get started.
Your ring is handcrafted by our jeweller — cast, set, and polished entirely by hand.
Before we hand it over, your ring comes back to us for a final inspection. We check every claw, every stone, every finish — under magnification. Nothing leaves our hands unless it's perfect.
You collect your ring from us in person, ready for whatever moment you've planned.
Your ring stays in our care long after you walk out the door. Free cleaning and inspections whenever you need them.
PATON'S PLACE JEWELLERS OPENS
1971
Our grandfather, Albert Paton, opened the first Paton's Place Jewellers in Thomastown with $150 in his pocket, a small range of watches, and — as the family story goes — no locks on any of the cabinets. Over five decades later, we're still here
LALOR STORE OPENS
1977
Six years in, our family outgrew Thomastown. We packed up the cabinets, moved a few suburbs over to Lalor, and opened the doors of what would become our home for the next 36 years.
RESERVOIR STORE OPENS
1978
A year after settling into Lalor, our family opened a second store in Reservoir — a sister shopfront where we'd serve generations of local families for the next 38 years
CRAIGIEBURN STORE OPENS
2013
Our family had already made Craigieburn home, so it felt right to bring the business with us. We closed the Lalor store after 36 years — bittersweet, but the right call — and opened a brand new Paton's Place at Craigieburn Central, ready for the next chapter.
RESERVOIR CLOSES
2016
After 38 years in Reservoir, we said goodbye to the store that had served multiple generations of local families. It wasn't easy — but with Craigieburn growing fast, we knew it was time to bring everything under one roof and pour our energy into building something better.
STILL HERE, STILL FAMILY
TODAY
Today, Paton's is still family-run from our Craigieburn store. We've watched our neighbourhood grow up, designed rings for couples whose parents bought rings from us, and turned cherished heirlooms into pieces ready to be passed down again.
The shopfronts have changed, but our family hasn't.
