Why this ring works
Marquise is the most underrated diamond cut we sell. It's elongated, finger-flattering, and visually larger than its actual carat weight, a 1.24ct marquise reads visually larger on the hand, thanks to the elongated shape and pointed ends.
The setting is doing specific work for the cut. Four side claws hold the body of the diamond, but the two ends are protected by V-shaped claws, small triangular caps that wrap around the pointed tips of the marquise. Those points are the most fragile part of the stone (the entire weakness of a marquise diamond lives in those tips), and V-claws are there to protect them from chipping.
E/VS1 is a premium grade. E sits in the top three on the colour scale (D-E-F are all colourless), and VS1 means the stone is eye-clean with only minor inclusions visible under 10x magnification.
The two-tone metal mix gives the ring its character. White gold V-claws and side claws keep the diamond reading icy and bright, where yellow gold prongs would have cast warmth into an E-colour stone. The 18ct yellow gold band warms the overall look.
The tapered band keeps the silhouette delicate, which works really well against a long, centre stone like this one.

A note on lab grown diamonds
Lab grown diamonds are made of the same material as mined diamonds, pure carbon, crystallised under intense heat and pressure. The only difference is where that process happens. Mined diamonds form over billions of years deep in the earth. Lab grown diamonds form in a controlled chamber over a matter of weeks, using the same chemistry. Chemically, optically and physically, the two are identical. Same hardness, same fire, same sparkle, same certification standards. No naked eye can tell them apart, only a gemmologist with specialised lab equipment can identify the difference.
