About prasiolite
Prasiolite is the pale green form of quartz, a close relation of amethyst. Most of it starts as amethyst or citrine from Brazil and is gently heated to bring out the green, which is standard for the stone. It's a lovely, affordable way to wear a soft green, often standing in for pricier stones like peridot or emerald. 

Hardness: 7 on the Mohs scale
