A 2.01ct pear cut lab grown diamond engagement ring, held in a three-claw head on a diamond-set twist band in 18ct white gold. A pear combines a rounded end with a tapered point, so it sparkles like a brilliant and runs along the finger. The band doesn't meet the stone head-on. It crosses and curves around the pear from opposite sides, giving the ring movement and a bit of character. Fine round brilliants run up the shoulders of the twist, set close enough to read as a continuous line of light building toward the centre. The point is the most fragile part of a pear, so it sits in a V-claw that cups the tip from both sides. It's what we'd recommend on any pear, and on a stone this size it matters. In all white gold, nothing warms the diamonds, and the E colour centre looks bright and white.

Clarity: VVS1. Very, very slightly included, with any inclusions extremely hard to find even under magnification.
Type: CVD grown, Type IIa. Type IIa diamonds contain almost no nitrogen, the element that gives most diamonds a faint tint. Only about 1–2% of natural diamonds are Type IIa, but CVD growth produces it consistently.

A note on lab grown diamonds
A lab grown diamond is a real diamond. It's chemically, optically and physically identical to a natural one. The only difference is how it formed: a natural diamond grew in the earth over billions of years, and a lab grown diamond takes a matter of weeks. Once they're cut and polished, only a gemmologist with specialised equipment can tell them apart.
