Imogen | 1.55ct Emerald Cut Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Ring | Delicate Diamond Band | 18ct White Gold
A 1.55ct emerald cut lab grown diamond, E colour, VVS2 clarity, held in a four-claw white gold head on a delicate diamond-set 18ct white gold band. Total diamond weight 1.85ct.
Why this ring works
The emerald cut uses long, parallel facets running down the length of the stone, which lets you see into the diamond rather than just off it. It's sometimes called the "hall of mirrors" effect. The cut shows clarity more openly than brilliant cuts do, so it requires good grading. E/VVS2 clears that bar comfortably.
The four-claw setting is the right choice for an emerald cut. Each claw wraps around one of the four corners, which are the most fragile part of the stone and the most prone to chipping if left exposed. Clean, secure, and lets the stone do all the talking.
The delicate diamond-set band carries the sparkle down the finger rather than stopping it abruptly at the head. Small round brilliants run along the top of the band in fine claw settings, partway around so the ring can still be comfortably resized later if needed. The fine band keeps the proportions balanced against the substantial centre stone.
All-white-gold design keeps the look clean and crisp. The diamond reads bright and icy, and the architectural geometry of the emerald cut shows up clearly without warm tones from yellow gold distracting from the clean lines.
The diamonds
Centre: 1.55ct emerald cut lab grown diamond, E colour, VVS2 clarity
Band: round brilliant lab grown diamonds, claw-set
Total carat weight: 1.85ct
Certification: IGI Diamond Report (centre stone)
E/VVS2 is a "no compromises" diamond grade. E sits in the top three on the colour scale (D, E, F are all colourless), and VVS2 means the inclusions are so small they're only visible under 10x magnification.
A note on lab grown diamonds
Lab grown diamonds are made of the same material as mined diamonds: pure carbon, crystallised under intense heat and pressure. The only difference is where that process happens. Mined diamonds form over billions of years deep in the earth. Lab grown diamonds form in a controlled chamber over a matter of weeks, using the same chemistry. Chemically, optically and physically, the two are identical. Same hardness, same fire, same sparkle, same certification standards. No naked eye can tell them apart. Only a gemmologist with specialised lab equipment can identify the difference.
