Sapphire, Peridot & Tourmaline Multi-Stone Band | 9ct Yellow Gold

A row of green and yellow gemstones bezel-set along a 9ct yellow gold band, each one a different cut and shade. Natural sapphire, tourmaline and peridot, mixed into a single line of colour.

The appeal is the variety. Emerald, oval, pear and round stones sit side by side, the greens running from deep forest through to fresh lime with warm yellow stones worked in between, so no two spots on the band look quite the same. Every stone gets its own bezel, a full gold rim that holds it and separates it from its neighbour, which keeps a busy mix looking tidy rather than cluttered. It reads as a considered spread of colour, not a random handful.

About the stones
There's a lot going on in this band, and every stone in it is natural. The greens and yellows come from three different gem families. Sapphire is corundum, one of the hardest stones there is after diamond, and it grows in far more than blue, including these clean greens and golds. Tourmaline is prized for the sheer range of greens it comes in. And peridot is the olive-green August birthstone, one of the few gems whose colour is built into the stone itself rather than borrowed from a trace of something else.
