Each earring sits a large 7.7mm freshwater pearl next to a little scatter of coloured stones: a purple amethyst, a raspberry rhodolite garnet and a pink tourmaline, clustered together and claw-set. The soft white pearl against the purples and pinks is a pretty, slightly unexpected mix, and the warm yellow gold ties it all together. A fun, colourful stud with plenty of character.

About the stones

Freshwater pearls are grown in mussels, each with its own soft lustre. They're paired here with amethyst (purple quartz, February's birthstone), pink tourmaline (the rose-toned member of the tourmaline family) and rhodolite garnet (a bright raspberry-pink garnet). Pearls are softer than the coloured stones, so keep them away from perfume, hairspray and knocks, and wipe them gently after wear.
