Freshwater Pearl & Diamond Heart Pendant | 9ct Yellow Gold

A double-heart pendant in 9ct yellow gold, with a single freshwater pearl cradled at the centre and a small diamond set just beneath it. A soft, romantic piece on a classic heart.

Two polished gold hearts sit one inside the other, and where they meet at the base a round white pearl rests in the opening, with a little diamond tucked below to finish it. The open, flowing lines of the hearts keep it light, the warm gold sets off the soft pearl, and the diamond adds one small point of sparkle. Pretty and easy to wear, and a natural pick for a gift.

About pearls
Pearls are the one gem that comes from a living thing rather than the ground. A freshwater pearl grows inside a mussel, which slowly wraps a tiny irritant in layer after layer of nacre, the same material that lines the shell, and it's those layers that give a pearl its soft glow. Because they're organic they're also much softer than most stones, so they ask for a little more care: keep them away from perfume, hairspray and household chemicals, put the necklace on after those rather than before, and wipe it with a soft cloth rather than soaking it. Looked after kindly, pearls last a lifetime and well beyond.
