Genevieve | 7.07ct Oval Lab Grown Diamond Ring | Hidden Halo | 18ct Yellow & White Gold
A 7.07ct E colour, VVS2 oval lab grown diamond, held in a six-claw white gold head with a hidden halo beneath, on a plain tapered 18ct yellow gold band. Total diamond weight: 7.18ct.
Why this ring works
The scale of the centre stone dictated almost every decision in this ring. At 15.42mm long, the oval already has enormous presence, so the rest of the design has deliberately been kept quiet.
Six claws give a diamond this size additional security while keeping the outline of the oval visible. The claws are white gold, which visually recedes against the diamond, while the 18ct yellow gold band brings warmth to the ring from the side and underneath.
The hidden halo sits beneath the centre rather than surrounding it. From above, you see one clean oval. Turn the ring and the 26 small diamonds underneath catch the light around the base of the setting. It adds detail without making an already substantial centre stone feel busier.
The band is plain and tapers as it approaches the setting. That narrowing draws the eye towards the centre and balances the size of the oval without competing with it.
The diamond itself is graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. At this scale, both are easy to appreciate: the stone reads beautifully white and exceptionally clean, allowing the cut, shape and sheer size of the oval to do the talking.
The diamonds
- Centre carat: 7.07ct
- Cut: Oval brilliant
- Colour: E
- Clarity: VVS2
- Type: Lab grown diamond, CVD Type IIA
- Centre measurements: 15.42 × 11.02 × 6.62mm
- Certification: IGI Report No. LG768656948
- Hidden halo: 26 round brilliant lab grown diamonds, 0.11ct total, F colour, VS clarity
- Total diamond weight: 7.18ct
E/VVS2 is a very high combination of colour and clarity. It isn't a requirement for a beautiful diamond, but on a centre stone of this scale it gives an exceptionally clean, bright result.
A note on lab grown diamonds
A lab grown diamond is a real diamond. It has the same chemical, optical and physical properties as a natural diamond. The difference is how it formed: natural diamonds developed within the earth over billions of years, while lab grown diamonds are created in a controlled laboratory environment over a much shorter period.
Once cut and polished, distinguishing a lab grown diamond from a natural diamond requires specialised testing equipment.
This centre diamond was grown using the CVD process and is classified as Type IIA, meaning it contains very little measurable nitrogen within its crystal structure.
The setting
- Metal: 18ct yellow gold band with white gold head, two-tone, stamped 750
- Style: Six-claw oval setting with hidden halo
- Band: Half-rounded and tapered, 3.00mm wide
