Emerald-Cut Ametrine Pendant | 9ct Yellow Gold

A single emerald-cut ametrine, amethyst purple at the top melting down into citrine gold, claw-set in 9ct yellow gold on a plain bail. The pendant to the matching drops, or a piece on its own.

Worn as a pendant, it catches the light with a little space around it, which is when ametrine is at its best. The yellow gold picks up the citrine half and warms the whole thing. Simple to wear, and more to look at than it first lets on.

About ametrine
Ametrine is one of the few gemstones that is genuinely two colours at once: amethyst and citrine, grown together in a single quartz crystal. The name is simply those two words run together. It happens when iron in the crystal meets different temperatures as it forms, one zone turning purple, the next warm gold, with a natural line where they meet. Nearly all of it in the world comes from a single mine in eastern Bolivia, which makes it far less common than either amethyst or citrine on their own.
