Diana | Oval Australian Sapphire & Diamond Ring | 18ct Gold | Exclusively Paton's Place
A deep blue oval Australian sapphire framed by a scalloped diamond halo, set in 18ct gold with a white gold setting. Part of our Sapphire Dreams collection, exclusive to Paton's Place.
Why this ring works
This is the oval-and-halo cluster everyone pictures when they think of a blue sapphire ring, and it's a shape that flatters a rich stone like this one. The sapphire sits high at the centre, ringed by round diamonds in a scalloped white gold frame. That halo lifts the blue and makes the whole cluster read larger than the centre stone on its own. At 3.65 carats the sapphire has real depth, a dark midnight blue that glows against the bright diamonds around it.
The two-tone gold does its work quietly. White gold holds the sapphire and the halo so the diamonds stay bright and the blue reads true, while the warm yellow gold band wraps the finger. A plain band underneath keeps all the attention on the cluster.

About Australian sapphire
Australia is one of the world's great sapphire sources, with gemfields across central Queensland and northern New South Wales. Its sapphires run from deep classic blue to teal, green and gold, and many are worn just as they came out of the ground, untreated. As a form of corundum, sapphire is one of the hardest gemstones there is after diamond, so it takes everyday wear beautifully.
Hardness: 9 on the Mohs scale
Birthstone: September
Come and see it in person. A deep blue sapphire shifts under live light in a way a photo can't quite hold, so it's worth seeing on the hand.
