Four different stones sit side by side: a green-flashing crystal opal in the middle, with a lime-green peridot, a purple amethyst and a pink sapphire arranged around it. It's a happy, colourful mix, the opal shifting through greens and blues as it moves while the coloured stones each hold their own tone. Warm yellow gold ties the whole row together.

About the stones

Crystal opal is a translucent Australian opal that shows flashes of colour, here greens and blues, shifting as the light moves. It's paired with peridot (the lime-green August birthstone), amethyst (purple quartz, February's birthstone) and pink sapphire (a hard, bright member of the corundum family). A lively mix of natural colour.

Hardness: Opal 5.5–6.5, peridot 6.5–7, amethyst 7, pink sapphire 9 on the Mohs scale
