What is an East-West setting?

An East-West setting describes any ring where the centre stone is rotated 90 degrees from its traditional orientation. Instead of the stone running lengthwise along the finger (north to south), it sits horizontally across it (east to west).

It's a small change with a big visual impact. The ring reads as more modern, more deliberate, and more sculptural than a traditionally set oval. It also makes the diamond feel wider on the finger, which is part of the appeal for buyers who want a low-profile ring that still has presence.

The orientation works with most elongated stone shapes (oval, emerald, radiant, marquise, pear).
