Emerald-Cut Aquamarine, Tanzanite & Diamond Ring | 9ct Two-Tone Gold

An emerald-cut aquamarine in soft sea-blue at the centre, with a triangular tanzanite in deeper violet-blue on each shoulder and a little cluster of diamonds in between, the stones set in white gold on a yellow gold band. Two blues and two golds in the one ring.

Centre: Natural aquamarine, emerald cut, 8 x 6mm, 1.36ct
Shoulders: 2 natural tanzanite, trilliant cut, 0.22ct total
Diamonds: 0.04ct total, round brilliant accents
Metal: 9ct white gold setting on a 9ct yellow gold band
Setting: Claw-set centre with diamond accents and trilliant tanzanite shoulders

About the stones
Two blues here, from two different families. Aquamarine is the pale blue member of the beryl family, the same species as emerald, and it takes its soft sea-blue from a trace of iron. Its name comes straight from the Latin for sea water, which suits it. Tanzanite is the deeper stone, a blue-violet variety of zoisite found in just one place on earth, a small patch of northern Tanzania, and known for the way its colour shifts between blue and violet as it turns. 

Hardness: aquamarine 7.5 to 8, tanzanite around 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale
