A cushion-cut amethyst set beside an oval rhodolite garnet, claw-set side by side in 9ct yellow gold.

This is the two-stone "toi et moi" look, two different stones sitting next to each other rather than one centre. Here it's a soft purple amethyst paired with a deeper berry-pink garnet, the larger cushion beside the smaller oval, each held in its own claw setting. The two purples play off each other nicely, and the warm gold pulls both colours together. A simple band keeps it easy to wear every day.

About the stones

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, ranging from pale lilac to deep grape, and February's birthstone. Rhodolite is the rose-pink to raspberry member of the garnet family, cleaner and brighter than the deep red most people picture, and January's birthstone. Both are hard, clear stones that take a bright polish and wear well day to day.
