About mabé pearls
A mabé is a dome-shaped pearl, grown against the inside of the shell rather than free inside the oyster, which gives it that flat back and rounded, generous face, ideal for pendants and earrings. The soft, creamy lustre here is the classic pearl look, a warm white with gentle flashes of light across the surface. Like all pearls it's organic and softer than most stones, so it asks for a little care: keep it away from perfume, hairspray and household chemicals, put the necklace on after those rather than before, and wipe it with a soft cloth rather than soaking. Looked after kindly, pearls last a lifetime and well beyond.
