About mystic topaz
Mystic topaz starts as clear, colourless topaz, the same stone as white topaz, and gets its rainbow look from a very thin coating applied to the back of the cut stone. That coating bends the light into the shifting spectrum you see, an effect that doesn't happen naturally in topaz. Because the colour lives in that surface layer, it's worth treating a little more gently than a plain stone: keep it clear of abrasive cleaners, ultrasonic machines and harsh chemicals, which can wear the coating over time.
