Why this ring works
The emerald cut uses long, parallel facets running down the length of the stone, which lets you see into the diamond rather than just off it. It's a cut that holds light in flat planes rather than scattering it, often called the "hall of mirrors" effect. It rewards top-quality stones because there's nowhere to hide, and at D/VVS2, the centre stone is the right material for it.
