Bonnie | 3.04ct Cushion Cut Lab Grown Diamond with Halo & Diamond Band | Two-Tone 18ct Gold
A 3.04ct square cushion cut lab grown diamond, E colour, VVS2 clarity, surrounded by a diamond halo and set on a fully diamond-set 18ct yellow gold band with a white gold halo and setting. Total diamond weight: 3.56ct.
This is the showstopper, beautiful, generous, impossible to ignore on the hand. If the brief is "I want a ring that turns heads from across the room," this is it.
Why this ring works
The cushion cut is a pillowy, square-shaped diamond with softly rounded corners, the modern descendant of the old-mine cuts that were popular in the 1800s. It gives you the romance of a vintage stone with the brilliance of a modern one. Cushion cuts hold their fire and sparkle beautifully under almost any lighting, which is part of why they've made such a comeback over the last decade.
At 3.04 carats, this stone has serious presence. The halo of pavé diamonds around it makes the centre stone read even larger, the eye sees the entire halo as one unified shape. It's a trick of perception that's been used in fine jewellery for over a century, and it works.
The diamond-set band carries the sparkle all the way down the finger. Pavé diamonds run along both shoulders and continue partway around the band, so from any angle there's light catching somewhere. This is the detail that separates a beautiful ring from a memorable one.
The basket detail underneath is one of those features you don't see in photos but feel every time you look down at the ring. Instead of a plain gallery, the diamond is held in a cathedral-style basket with sweeping white gold supports that lift the stone and let light pass through from underneath. It's the kind of detail that makes a ring feel custom and considered, and it's part of why this stone catches light from angles most halo rings don't.
The two-tone metal is a deliberate design choice. White gold for the halo and claws keeps the centre diamond reading icy and bright (yellow gold prongs would cast warmth into the stone and visually lower its colour grade). The 18ct yellow gold band warms the whole piece and adds personality, especially against most skin tones. You get the best of both metals doing what each does best.
A note on this particular stone: at 3 carats and above, every grade of the 4Cs becomes more visible. Inclusions, tint, cut quality, there's nowhere to hide. We matched this centre stone with E colour and VVS2 clarity for that exact reason. It's near-perfect on both fronts, which is what you want at this size.
