Champagne diamonds go the other way. Their warm brown tone comes from tiny distortions in the crystal lattice that formed under heat and pressure deep in the earth. They’re graded on a scale from C1, the palest straw, through to C7, a deep cognac. At C6–C7, this stone sits at the rich end. Many of the best-known champagne diamonds came from Western Australia’s Argyle mine, which closed in 2020.

Come and see it in the cabinet at Craigieburn. Champagne diamonds look paler in daylight and deepen under warm light, so it’s worth seeing both.
Book a consultation
